North Carolina Golden BBQ Sauce

  1. Melt butter in large sauce pan over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne.
  3. Add flour to make a roux. Cook while stirring for 2 minutes.
  4. Add in milk while rapidly stirring to prevent lumps, then bring to simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Slowly add in cheese while stirring until cheese has completely melted and smooth.
  6. Remove from heat and pour into blender.
  7. In small bowl, combine mustard, worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Stir until combined.
  8. Slowly add mustard mixture to cheese sauce while the blender is on high speed. Once fully incorporated, taste and season with salt and pepper, if needed.
  9. Pour into storage container and refrigerate until ready to use.
